Happy Birthday Carter!

Carter turned 1 yesterday! I can't believe my little baby is

already 1 years old
He had his own sugary cupcake. This was a mistake
because he woke up many times that night.

Carter received the cozy coupe from his Grandma and Grandpa Johnson.

He hasn't left this toy since he received it. He likes to get in the car and then out

and then back in. I am hoping this car will entertain him this summer so I can

get some yard work done.

Here is a list for those of you who don't know Carter very well.

1. His best friend is his brother.

2. He is a daddy's boy.

3. His hair is hard to tame. I can only slick it down for a period of time.

4. He says: mamma, dadda, dod (dog), Kee (kitty), ahh dun (all done), uh oh, nigh nigh (sleepy time), and num num (hungry).

5. He has decided he doesn't like bottles anymore. I guess he is a good boy for doing that so easily.

6. He loves to wrestle with his dad and brother. I can't watch because the flips scare me.

7. He loves to hot tub.

8. He likes to immitate sounds: buzzers, horns and whistles.

9. He took 3 steps yesterday.

10. He hasn't slept through the night yet.

11. He will go to sleep if you just lay him down in the crib.

12. He can cry extra loud at 2:30 in the morning.

13. He is very social.

14. He laughs and squeals a lot.

15. I am not sure why I thought it would be hard to love another baby. I can't imagine our lives without him. He is a perfect fit into our crazy home.

If you haven't met Carter yet, I hope you get to real soon. He is growing up so fast!

Should I be concerned?

I want to get other mommy opinions on Carter. He turns one this Monday, but has been refusing a bottle for the last 24 hours. He also just went to bed without his binky! Why is he growing up so fast? I am a little worried about the bottle. I just stopped breast feeding about 3 weeks ago and he has always been happy with formula. He is not cranky but when I try to give him a bottle he just pushes it away. Do you think I should be concerned?

Valentine Day Hike

We finally had Bryan home for a full Saturday. He did not have Fire Fighting training, so we decided to hike with our good friends the Underwoods.
Colbie always loves to chew logs. We think she is part beaver. Her gums bleed but she is so happy shredding logs. She spent about 15 minutes destroying this log.

Carter had fun hanging out in the backpack.

We stopped and had lunch. It was a great way to spend Valentine's Day!

Another Beautiful Day!

A cold and beautiful Day in the Northwest! 43 degrees and sunny! I love it!

Sunny Day

We finally had a decent day to play outside for awhile. Cameron hadn't been on his "digger" since Fall. Carter loves the swing! He holds his breath each time he swings down and then giggles as the swing takes him up.

I haven't been blogging lately because Facebook has been consuming a lot of my time. I just started and it is a little addicting. I have piles of papers to organize and a check book to balance, but what fun would that be! I would rather facebook.

A Mini Vacation

We spent the weekend at one of the most beautiful places in the world: Orcas Island. The weather was sunny and warm. It was so nice to relax with friends (Perrys and Connors) and have some quality family time. Bryan joined the North County Fire Department and our family time is what we have to sacrafice for the next few months. He has training on Monday and Wednesday evenings and all day Saturday. This lasts until May and then he has a few weeks off before EMT training starts. He is busy!! We are trying to be patient and understanding while he has to work so hard.

This is the view from a lookout at Moran State Park on Orcas Island. We had so much fun hiking and snacking this lookout. You must visit the San Juan Islands if you have never been there. Beautiful!

Favorite Pictures of 2008

Of Course we have so many pictures that we love from 2008, but here are a few of my favorites. I never seem to take a good picture, but Bryan and I had this picture taken 5 days before Carter was born. We went to Ocean Shores in February with the Aucklands. It brings back so many great memories! This particular picture was taken in the fort that the boys built. My contractions were about 20 minutes apart at this point, but we were determined to get our last weekend in before the baby came.

Doesn't our sensitive little Cameron look tough! Cameron did such a great job in becoming a big brother this year! He loves his little brother and they are already best friends!

Here is our happy 2008 addtion to our family. He loves to hold his toes and balance on his bottom. Maybe it was the few yoga classes I did while pregnant. Carter is always happy!

This is my all time favorite picture of Bryan. It was taken minutes after Carter was born, and I don't think I have ever seen Bryan so happy! This picture will always be one of my favorites.
